Exhibit

Visit the Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures for our presentation of the exhibit "Bertolt Brecht's PAPER WAR: Exile in America 1941-1947"!

The exhibition looks through Brecht’s glasses with contemporary eyes, reflecting on his views on the American way of life during the time of Roosevelt, Truman, and McCarthy, combining his writings and the newspaper clippings he used for inspiration.

Designed by curator and artist Grischa Meyer, supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, with funding from the German Foreign Office. Paper Exhibit presented in the Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures, University of Virginia, co-sponsored by the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the UVA Center for Germanic Studies. Email Julia Gutterman (jg4mt@virginia.edu) with any questions.
